Active Hemophiliac
I am a very rare FEMALE with Hemophilia (2% Factor VIII). I want to show others, with PROPER training AND the help of your physician: TAKING CARE OF YOUR BODY, WILL HELP IT TAKE CARE OF YOU! Maintaining an appropriate body weight, having good muscle strength, and stability plays a huge role in the amount of bleeding episodes!

9 days after...
I know I haven't posted since after the marathon... I have still been "recovering". I didn't have any hemophilia related issues, but on Tuesday after, I started to have some pain in my side, which hasn't gone away. I went to the doctor today and she confirmed my thoughts that it is probably just muscle strain. Seems as though I twist my torso more than normal when running. How crazy is that... I ran 26.2 miles and my legs are fine, but my ribs hurt. LOL. She also told me that the rule of thumb for distance running is: for every mile run, take 1 day of recovery... so, I still have a few days.

Went back out after factor.
Total for the day:
18.1 miles in 3:40!
Feeling pretty good at the moment... My shins are a tiny sore, but not bad. I am definitely getting better at the cardio thoracic portion of the run. I still have troubles with that in the beginning, but I tend to get over it after about 15-20 minutes.

I decided I really shouldn't run 3.5 hours without factor, so I had Jeff come pick me up. Stuck myself 3 times with no luck and absolutely ZERO return. Realized I was so chilled from running in the rain, that I needed to take a hot shower to warm up my body and veins. It did the trick... Got it on the 4th stick. And now I have completely fresh running clothes for the 2nd half of today's run.

Rough week... I finally got back out there and brought Ace with me. He was happy to go, but I think he wasn't prepared for 4.47 miles.

Had a great time on a leisurely ride! About 5 miles. All but 3 of us were on beach cruisers. We 3 roadies looked out of place, but no one made us feel out of place. What a great group of people!

This morning, the weather was perfect to take Alex with me on my run. Actually cool enough that he wore pants and sleeves. When we got home, I decided to see exactly how much weight I was pushing.
The stroller weighed in at 42 pounds...
Alex weighed in at 45 pounds...
TOTAL 87 pounds I was pushing with & against 11 MPH winds today.
4.14 miles in 52:10 minutes (4/1).
